About HODL
HODL Markets tokenizes sophisticated investment strategies and provides distribution access to a wide audience. The company has been operating since the beginning of 2025 with a successful launch of a DeFi app MVP.
In July 2026, HODL undertook a significant company pivot, which involves the relaunch of our flagship product, previously known as HODL Protocol. The new, V2 product, will be more focused on enabling simpler integrations with distribution partners using AI-agent-friendly documentation. It will also integrate a much-improved workflow for our partnered managers, automating the strategy licensing and trading process.
Our objective is simple: democratize accessibility to gated investment products and asset classes. The first step of this mission is by bringing tokenized hedge fund strategies to a widespread audience.
Company Milestones
Before the end of this year: We’re aiming to complete a strategic fundraising round, in partnership with major Fintechs who will be our first, and exclusive (for some hedge fund strategies) distribution partners.
By the end of this year: We’re aiming to relaunch our platform and serve our first institutional customers through one or more strategic distribution partners.
By early next year: We’re aiming to expand our offering to Canada and Switzerland.
By this time next year: We’re aiming to partner with most of the U.S.’ major registered investment advisors, so they can seamlessly direct their client portfolios into hedge fund strategies when appropriate.
The Role – Smart Contract Engineer
HODL is seeking a Smart Contract Engineer to design, build, and maintain the smart contracts that power its tokenized vault platform. This role owns the on-chain layer of the product, including the vault contracts that operate tokenized hedge fund strategies, the logic that executes manager trading signals on-chain, and the accounting and position management systems required for compliant distribution. You will work closely with the platform engineering team that builds the APIs and services integrating with these contracts.
Core Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and deploy secure, gas-efficient smart contracts on Ethereum, and other EVM-compatible chains, using tokenized vault standards (ERC-4626 and ERC-7540).
Implement on-chain vault logic for deposits, redemptions, and settlement, including asynchronous request flows when needed.
Build the execution layer that translates approved manager trading signals into on-chain vault transactions.
Scope roles so each manager can authorize trading only within a defined mandate. Implement these controls using established frameworks such as SAFE and Zodiac Roles.
Implement on-chain accounting.
Develop access-control and compliance mechanisms.
Maintain contract security lifecycle.
Collaborate with third-party security audits.
Maintain clear technical documentation.
About You & Required Skills
Fluency with EVM development toolchains such as Foundry or Hardhat
2+ years developing production smart contracts in Solidity.
Strong knowledge of smart contract security, including common vulnerabilities (oracle manipulation, access-control errors, upgrade-related risks) and their mitigations.
Experience in at least one backend language (Python, Rust, Go) for off-chain services.
Disciplined approach to testing, documentation, and code review.
Nice to Haves
Experience with tokenized real-world assets, regulated financial products or institutional DeFi.
Familiarity with ERC-4626 vault standards and extensions.
Experience integrating pricing oracles and custody solutions.
Professional background in the US or Canadian financial industry.
Compensation
Standard equity award, in range for the position.
Competitive salary. Upon completion of the next funding round, bump and milestone bonuses. This role’s targeted compensation band is: $120k-$140k
Ongoing incentives tied to the company's financial success.
Generous benefits package, in range for startups of similar tenure in the industry.
