About HODL
HODL Markets tokenizes sophisticated investment strategies and provides distribution access to a wide audience. The company has been operating since the beginning of 2025 with a successful launch of a DeFi app MVP.
In July 2026, HODL undertook a significant company pivot, which involves the relaunch of our flagship product, previously known as HODL Protocol. The new, V2 product, will be more focused on enabling simpler integrations with distribution partners using AI-agent-friendly documentation. It will also integrate a much-improved workflow for our partnered managers, automating the strategy licensing and trading process.
Our objective is simple: democratize accessibility to gated investment products and asset classes. The first step of this mission is by bringing tokenized hedge fund strategies to a widespread audience.
Company Milestones
Before the end of this year: We’re aiming to complete a strategic fundraising round, in partnership with major Fintechs who will be our first, and exclusive (for some hedge fund strategies) distribution partners.
By the end of this year: We’re aiming to relaunch our platform and serve our first institutional customers through one or more strategic distribution partners.
By early next year: We’re aiming to expand our offering to Canada and Switzerland.
By this time next year: We’re aiming to partner with most of the U.S.’ major registered investment advisors, so they can seamlessly direct their client portfolios into hedge fund strategies when appropriate.
The Role – Smart Contract Engineer
HODL is seeking a Full Stack Engineer to own the application layer of our V2 platform: the APIs, services and data pipelines that sit between our smart contracts and the products our distribution platforms and end users rely on. This is a backend-leaning, architecture-first role. You will define how HODL ingests and serves on-chain and off-chain data, how the platform models the asynchronous lifecycle of deposits and redemptions, and how distribution partners integrate with a stable API. Accuracy, reliability and observability are primary concerns. You will work hands on with smart contract engineers, product owners, and our partners’ external engineering teams.
Core Responsibilities
Build and maintain strategy catalogues, portfolio and account views, and tooling for managers and partners.
Design and operate the data pipeline indexing on-chain events across multiple chains and serve derived state (NAV history, positions, transaction history) with reorg handling.
Monitor deposit and redemption lifecycle across services.
Build the distribution-partner API as a product: versioning, authentication, rate limiting, webhook delivery with retry and ordering guarantees, sandbox, and AI agent friendly documentation.
Contribute across the stack, including frontend (React and Typescript)
Set backend engineering standards, mentor, and help grow the engineering team
Own observability and incident response, using Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and Sentry to ensure reliability
About You & Required Skills
5+ years in software engineering, including ownership of backend architecture, distributed systems, and data-intensive work
Comfortable implementing WalletConnect and similar wallet integrations, as well as wallet and account abstraction technologies
Deep TypeScript expertise across client and server
Strong API design skills (OpenAPI specifications or similar)
Ability to operate autonomously and set engineering standards in an early-stage environment
Nice to Haves
Experience with tokenized real-world assets, regulated financial products, or institutional defi
Familiarity with tokenized vault standards and asynchronous vault mechanics
Professional background in the U.S or Canadian financial industry
